When people think about Family Fun Night–which I think should be every night–they don’t usually think about utilizing this time to expand their child’s vocabulary. There are plenty of games you can play with your child that will help introduce them to new words. It is all about parent strategy and disguising educational opportunities.
Boggle was a family favorite, and it is well worn. The game is for players 8+ years of age, but it can easily be modified for younger children. We merely changed the rules until our daughter progressed into the standard game rules. As a child gets older and more experienced with the game, phase out any modifications and begin to make it more challenging for them. However, if you prefer, there is a Boggle Jr. game as well which is recommended for children 3 and up.
The idea is to keep a child engaged and learning, without them realizing it. Try out our fun paper version of the game. Just click on the button below to access the PDF file. Most importantly, have fun together on your next family game night!
